James Vincent Quigley Jr. passed on October 10-15-2021 at his home in Lacey Washington. He is survived by his wife, Carol Ramsey Quigley along with his children Mark Quigley, Melissa Quigley, Amanda Quigley Ladd all of Kentucky, Dan Sauer and Richard Sauer of Washington. Eight Grandchildren: Aaron Matthews, Taylor Quigley, Kelcie Pedigo, Pearl Dewhirst, Mylaka Quigley Richey, Layla Ladd, Taylor Ladd, and Peyton Ladd. Great Grandchildren: Paisley and Kendall Matthews, Ellie and Easton Ballard, Chase Garrison and Ascela Turner.
He is also survived by two sisters, Kathleen Quigley Cressell (Carl) of West Virginia and Ilene Whetzel McDonald (Francis) of Maryland. Two brothers, Michael Quigley (Carolyn) of North Carolina and George Whetzel (Judy) of South Carolina, along with several nieces, nephews and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents James Quigley, Sr., Sarah Sweeny Quigley Whetzel and Chester Whetzel.
James was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army having had served in combat during the Vietnam Conflict. After his retirement, he furthered his career by serving with the I Corps and Fort Lewis-Community Operations Div as the Assistant Community Operations Officer, Fort Lewis, Washington.
During his military career he had received the following decorations: National Defense Service Medal/Vietnam Service Medal/Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal/Bronze Star Medal/Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal/Overseas Service Bars (1)/Good Conduct Medal (6th Awd)/Army Commendation Medal (10LC)/Overseas Service Ribbon (4)/Army Service Ribbon/Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation w Palm/Expert.
James enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
